I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently in relation to how generative AI products have been getting pushed on the public, and how tech corporations and the government keep telling us we can’t reject these technologies even if they’re harmful or not useful to us. The only thing that’s allowed is for us to “use them more carefully” or waste more of our time and resources trying to debug their outputs, when honestly these are products in a beta stage that should not have been made widely available without more testing and planning. But they were pushed onto people and industries immediately in a desperate attempt by corporations and investors to consolidate market share for these products as early as possible, and to try to get people and institutions hooked.
